Center Support Programs 

The PAIR-HCI Center offers six support programs for researchers and teams in Korea and abroad. Please use the Unified Application Form below to apply in a single submission. Once you select your primary program, the form will automatically show program-specific questions.

After review, we may contact you to request additional materials or schedule an interview. 

PAIR-HCI 센터는 국내·외 연구자 및 연구팀을 대상으로 6종 지원 프로그램을 운영하고 있습니다.

아래 통합 신청 폼을 통해 관심 프로그램을 선택해 한 번에 신청할 수 있으며, 선택한 프로그램에 맞는 추가 질문이 자동으로 표시됩니다.

• Eligibility:

Center-affiliated undergraduate researchers and master’s students, operating as a two-way program (inbound/outbound).

• Funding:

Up to KRW 5,000,000 per person, 4 awards per year.

• Support:

Supports short-term research visits to global partner institutions by covering eligible visit-related expenses (e.g., airfare and living costs), and encourages follow-on collaboration through post-visit outcomes sharing (e.g., brief reports/updates).

• Notes:

Designed to complement and link with the institution-run GIST-IREF (mid-/long-term dispatch program).

• 대상:

PAIR-HCI 센터 참여 학부 연구생 및 석사과정 학생 (국내↔해외 상호 교류, In-bound/Out-bound).

• 지원 금액:

1인당 최대 5백만원, 연 4건.

• 지원 내용:

해외 파트너 기관 단기 방문연구를 위한 방문 경비(예: 항공료, 체재비 등)를 지원하고, 방문 결과(연구보고/성과 공유 등)를 통해 후속 공동연구로의 연결을 촉진합니다.

• 비고:

기관 기운영 GIST-IREF(석·박사 중·장기 파견)과 상호 보완적으로 연계합니다.

• Eligibility:

Top-tier postdoctoral researchers with outstanding research achievements, targeted for strategic recruitment.

• Funding:

KRW 25,000,000 per award, 2 awards per year, via 50/50 matching between the institution/project and the Center.

• Support:

Provides a joint matching fund (50% cost-sharing) to strengthen stable placement conditions for high-caliber postdocs, including linkage to longer-term appointment pathways and research continuity.

• Notes:

May be connected to (i) an alternative service linkage (e.g., 2+1 structure for professional research personnel) and (ii) housing resources such as GIST Young Scientist Building (postdoc apartments).

• 대상:

최상위 학술 성과 보유 Post-doc (센터 핵심 인력으로 유치/지원 대상).

• 지원 금액:

2천 5백만원, 연 2건 (기관–센터 50% 매칭).

• 지원 내용:

기관(사업비/연구과제)과 센터가 공동 매칭펀드(참여율 50%)로 지원하여, 우수 포닥의 안정적 연구환경(장기 배치/정주 기반 포함)을 강화합니다.

• 비고:

병역특례기관 연계로 전문연구요원 2+1 제도 활용 방안을 마련하고, GIST Young Scientist Building (포닥 아파트, 100세대) 등 정주 여건과 연계합니다.

• Eligibility:

Center alumni such as postdocs and graduates seeking global placement.

• Funding:

KRW 30,000,000 per award, 2 awards per year.

• Support:

Supports overseas career launch by enabling Center-level recommendation letter support (including coordination with relevant international researchers where applicable) and by forming a Joint Seed with the host institution to help the individual sustain and expand research during early settlement.

• Notes:

Aims to strengthen both the individual’s long-term career trajectory and the Center’s sustained international collaboration network.

• 대상:

PAIR-HCI를 통해 성장·배출된 Post-doc 및 졸업생 등 (해외 진출 희망자).

• 지원 금액:

3천만원, 연 2건.

• 지원 내용:

해외 진출 시 센터 차원의 추천서 발급(해외 연구진 포함 가능)을 지원하고, 해외 호스트 기관과의 Joint Seed 과제 구성을 통해 초기 정착 단계에서도 연구를 지속/확장할 수 있도록 돕습니다.

• 비고:

개인 커리어 지원과 동시에, 센터의 장기 협력 네트워크를 강화하는 목적을 갖습니다.

• Eligibility:

Domestic/international early-career researchers at the assistant professor level (or equivalent), supporting mutual visits.

• Funding:

KRW 10,000,000 per visit, 2 visits per year.

• Support:

Based on host-lab matching at GIST, the Center co-supports part of living costs and research activity costs during the visit to accelerate joint topic exploration, research exchange, and development toward tangible collaborative outputs (e.g., joint projects/papers).

• Notes:

Operates in both inbound and outbound formats.

• 대상:

조교수급 또는 이에 준하는 국내·외 신진 연구자 (상호 방문).

• 지원 금액:

1천만원, 연 2건.

• 지원 내용:

GIST 내 호스트 연구실 매칭을 전제로, 방문 기간 동안 체류비 및 연구활동비 일부를 매칭 지원하여 공동연구 주제 발굴, 최신 연구동향 교류, 공동 성과 (논문/프로젝트)로의 전개를 촉진합니다.

• 비고:

In-bound/Out-bound 형태로 상호 방문을 운영합니다.

• Eligibility:

Center-affiliated teams organizing international joint workshops with global partners/experts.

• Funding:

KRW 5,000,000 per workshop, 2 workshops per year.

• Support:

Covers practical operational items such as honoraria, venue rental, and travel/lodging (airfare/accommodation) to disseminate Center outcomes and strengthen global networking (e.g., feedback sessions and community engagement).

• Notes:

Can be linked to promotion and outreach for Seed calls.

• 지원 금액:

PAIR-HCI 연구팀 및 해외 파트너/전문가와 공동으로 워크숍을 개최하려는 주관/참여 그룹.

• 지원 금액:

5백만원, 연 2건.

• 지원 내용:

국제 공동 워크숍 운영을 위한 실무 항목(예: 전문가 활용비, 시설 대관료, 항공/숙박비)을 지원하고, 센터 성과의 공유·확산 및 글로벌 네트워킹을 강화합니다.

• 비고:

워크숍을 Seed 과제 공모 홍보와 연계할 수 있습니다.

• Eligibility:

Teams selected through a domestic/international open call (including early-career researchers) proposing challenging Physical AI topics.

• Funding:

KRW 50,000,000 total Seed budget.

• Support:

Identifies high-risk/high-impact ideas and supports Seeds exploring topics that can create synergy with Core projects. Strong Seeds may scale into Convergence (Phase-2) studies to expand research scope and networking opportunities.

• Notes:

A quantitative target is presented as 8+ Seed projects over the project period (including early-career researchers).

• 지원 금액:

국내·외 개방형 공모를 통해 선정되는 연구팀(신진 연구자 포함 가능)으로, Physical AI 관련 창의·도전 주제를 제안하는 팀.

• 지원 금액:

Seed 과제 예산 5천만원 (총액).

• 지원 내용:

개방형 공모로 고위험·고파급 아이디어를 발굴하고, Core 과제와 시너지 가능한 주제를 Seed로 지원합니다. 우수 Seed는 Core와 연계·통합해 Convergence (2단계 융합연구)로 확장하여, 연구기회 및 네트워킹을 확대합니다.

• 비고:

정량 목표로 Seed 프로젝트 총 8건 이상 공모·지원(국내·외 신진 연구자 3명 이상 포함)이 제시되어 있습니다.
